Living with God

He who does these things will never be shaken. Ps 15:5
------------------------------------
Psalm 15:1-5 (NIV)
1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? 2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart 3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman, 4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, 5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

------------------------------------

I would like to share with you a lovely little poem that was written some years
ago and published in our Christian Horizons Newsletter.

My Sister Prays

Late one night when I was weary
Sister’s voice I heard in prayer
Solace I sought in my slumber —
She found comfort with You there.

Daily she remembers loved ones
Prays for those she knows are ill
List’ning to her talk with You Lord
Never fails my heart to fill.

Childlike still she is in most things
Clear, uncluttered, trusting, pure.
Prayer, though simply stated always
Rings with confidence. She’s sure!

Blessed with much I’m oft unfaithful
She with burdens remains true.
Help me Lord to be more like her
Lifting up my heart to You.

B.R. Draper

At one point in my life, it was my desire to help my friends with mental challenges
to be able to face life more like me. Now my prayer is that I will face life more like
the example set by my friends. David, in Psalm 15, wrote about a similar truth.

------------------------------------

Heavenly Father, I am finding the challenges of life distract me from living closely
with You. It seems that I spend too much of my time worrying about things that are
little more than distractions in my life. I want to be good. I want to be like Jesus.
Heavenly Father, what do I need to know, how shall I live my life so that
it might be as full and complete as I long for it to be? Amen.
