A question that Neil and I often ask as we travel around and visit with staff teams is, “How are you experienced by the people we support?” Of course they are not the only ones that experience us. We also need to ask ourselves how are we experienced by our coworkers, by the family members of the people we support and by members of the community. As Christians we should be growing more and more like Christ - we should be displaying the fruit of His Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-25 (New International Version)

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

When I am serving, do they experience me or do they experience the Spirit? Hopefully, they see me filled with His Spirit. Imagine if the words most used to describe Christian Horizons were: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”.
