1 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)
Train yourself to be godly.
"Training is to arrange my life around activities I can do that will enable me, over time, to do what I cannot do by direct effort alone.” - John Ortberg and Ruth Haley Barton An Ordinary Day With JesusIt is the last day of 2008. I hope everyone has a great night tonight. In the midst of the festivities tonight (for many I know it will include working) you may find your mind wondering as to New Years’ Resolutions. Even if you don’t make formal resolutions it is natural to view the beginning of a new year with some goals for change.
As I was thinking of this I was reminded of Dave Petkau. Dave is making the transition from DED of Christian Horizons South District to the Director of Ontario Operations. Dave is a great guy. Dave had it on his heart to support some of the work CH is doing in Central America. He decided that he would walk his district (Kitchener to Windsor) to raise money for some of the projects. This is no small task and Dave by his own admission was no small man when he decided to do this. Dave knew he had to get in shape. For many of us our vision of our self in the New Year will be a healthier one who helps others more but what else is new? Isn’t it always? The difference between Dave and me (and most of you I would guess) is that he has actually taken steps to achieve his vision. I wanted to share his blog with you because it is an honest account of how difficult it has been and I find it inspiring. As you read through be encouraged that the small steps add up.

I pray that you all have a great 2009!
